Esab and millersville
The ESAB facility was a great learning experience for me. I learned that welding is basically just soldering on steroids, just with more heat and more solder, although it's not solder. I also learned about the properties of steel, and how there is a yield point to where it will stay in its shape instead of rubber-banding back to its original shape when it is stretched out to a certain point. The ESAB facility was also the first factory I've been to, with conveyor belts and all.
The Millersville campus was a very enlightening experience for me. I got to see all the technology there and many of the opportunities I have. I am interested to learn about everything they showed us. Many of the classes they were taking I could take in the high school except in a less professional manner. While there, I learned that I could go to Penn State to pursue my possible career in nanofabrication.
Final Interpretations of Class
I'll be honest here, when I came into the classroom for the first time, I thought I was taking a class about computers. Even though I was disappointed to find out that it wasn't, I was happy that I took the class and I had learned a lot from in the four and a half months I spent on the course. I now have the knowledge that will allow me to go into a circuit myself and fix it if there is a problem that needs fixing. I have already gone home and fixed things based on what I learned. My uncle is an electrician so I can and probably will go get a part-time job from him over the summer, now that I have the necessary know-how needed for the field. This was probably the class that I had the most fun with. Not many classes have hands-on lessons and projects that you actually need to invest time into, and I like it about that. The fact that it really challenged me was why it was fun too. I love to be challenged, especially when it comes to mechanics. I am proud of what I accomplished in the class, what I learned, and what grade I got in it, which was an A.
